Job Title: Network Performance Analyst

Location: Hybrid - Hartford, CT
Employment Type: Ongoing Contract-to-Hire

Overview

We're hiring a Network Performance Analyst to join a high-impact team focused on maintaining and improving network visibility, reliability, and performance across enterprise infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone with a deep technical foundation in TCP, hands-on experience with Riverbed AppResponse, and expert-level proficiency in Wireshark.

Core Technical Requirements

We're specifically looking for candidates with:
  • Very strong understanding of TCP
    • You should be able to interpret TCP flows, understand retransmissions, congestion control, and session behavior across distributed systems. This includes identifying issues like slow starts, windowing problems, and asymmetric routing.
  • Hands-on experience with Riverbed AppResponse
    • You'll use AppResponse to monitor application-layer performance, correlate network and application metrics, and support root cause analysis for latency and throughput issues.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Wireshark
    • You should be comfortable capturing and analyzing traffic at the packet level, identifying anomalies, decoding protocols, and building filters to isolate performance-impacting behavior.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform deep packet inspection and traffic analysis using Wireshark and Riverbed tools
  • Monitor network segments using Gigamon TAPs and visibility infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot performance issues across TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, and VoIP protocols
  • Participate in reactive network traces during incident calls and post-mortem reviews
  • Maintain monthly bandwidth utilization reports and performance dashboards
  • Support and maintain tools like Opentext Network Operations Manager and NIKSUN

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years in network performance monitoring and diagnostics
  • Experience with Riverbed ARX, NIKSUN, Gigamon, and Power BI
  • Ability to correlate data across multiple monitoring platforms
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with engineering, security, and application teams

Work Environment & Onboarding

  • Hybrid role based in Hartford, CT

  • Expect several weeks of onboarding before stepping into full responsibilities

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
