In order to support a newly formed global packaging company with annual revenues exceeding $1 billion, we are seeking a Senior Area Controller to oversee the financial operations and ensuring the accuracy of the financial reporting within the designated geographic area.
The Senior Area Controller is a key leadership role within the Accounting & Finance team, responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, and internal controls across multiple manufacturing sites. This role requires a strong understanding of cost accounting, financial analysis, and compliance to support operational efficiency and strategic decision-making. The Senior Area Controller will work closely with plant managers, finance teams, and senior leadership to drive financial performance and ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures. This position will report to the Finance Lead for the Flexibles North American business and will have several members of staff located across multiple manufacturing locations.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead the financial reporting, planning, and analysis processes for assigned manufacturing sites.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes.
- Review and approve journal entries proposed by Plant Accounting Personnel.
- Ensure inventory and fixed asset physical counts are conducted in accordance with division and corporate policies.
- Analyze variances to standard to develop insights for operational improvements.
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics to support operational decision-making.
- Analyze key financial drivers and provide strategic recommendations to improve profitability and cost efficiency.
- Maintain and enforce strong internal controls, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Support capital expenditure planning and financial justification for new investments.
- Partner with operations leadership to improve plant performance through financial insights.
- Prepare and present financial reports and analyses to senior management.
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff within the assigned area to foster professional growth through a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Annually review and update Machine Hour Rates and Production Standards
- Drive process improvement and standardization across multiple plants
We'd love to hear from you if:
- Prefer Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically and provide financial insights to support business growth.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
Compensation:
The annual base salary range for this role is from $132,160 to $148,680, plus an annual target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
