Senior Network Engineer

Responsibilities for senior network engineer

• Engineer network-related solutions for project and operational needs
• Develop network design, perform installations of new / re-purposed network equipment, configuration of network equipment and testing
• Provide ongoing Level 3 operational support to assist in the diagnosis and resolution of network problems
• Research and recommend innovative and where possible automated approaches for network administrative tasks
• This position will require occasional after-hours, weekend and holiday work
• Provide technical engineering support, technical and administrative direction for personnel responsible for network design including the review of work products for correctness, adherence to the design concept, and specific user requirements and standards
• Make recommendations for major network designs from detailed analyses
• Understanding of Windows Server and client environments
• Participate in conducting solution and technology assessments
• Designing, LAN, WAN and VoIP infrastructures

Qualifications for senior network engineer

• 10+ years installing and supporting complex network environments
• Supporting Virtual Machine technologies (VMWare, HyperV)
• Knowledge in in Server migrations in both physical-to-physical and physical-to-virtual disciplines
• Knowledge and work experience with video deployments
• Possess system level and network level troubleshooting
• Comprehensive knowledge of L2/L3 technologies-VLANs/VLAN tagging, VTP, Spanning Tree, Etherchannel, portchannel
• Knowledge in various network vendor equipment including Sonicwall, Aruba, Cisco Switches and ASA experience
• Azure cloud core disciplines and experience a plus
• Experience with physical layer technologies-Gig/10G Ethernet, CAT5/6 cabling, Fiber
• BS in engineering field - Computer Science, Computer Engineering or comparable experience
• Ability to travel 25%-50% to client locations
