Job Description

As an IT Support Engineer, you'll play a critical dual role supporting semiconductor manufacturing operations across North and South America. You'll serve as the primary on-site IT contact for factory users while managing third-party IT service providers and coordinating seamlessly with global IT teams across multiple domains—including infrastructure, enterprise applications, databases, and factory system platforms.

This position requires more than just coordination skills; you'll bring hands-on technical expertise to maintain a secure, stable, and efficient IT environment that supports 24/7 factory operations. Your day-to-day will involve troubleshooting infrastructure issues, supporting critical manufacturing systems, ensuring cybersecurity compliance, and acting as the vital bridge between on-site operations and remote IT teams worldwide.

The ideal candidate is passionate about operational technology in manufacturing environments, thrives in fast-paced production settings, and takes pride in maintaining systems that directly impact production uptime and business continuity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate third-party IT support personnel on-site, ensuring service quality and compliance with IT policies and factory safety requirements.
  • Serve as the primary on-site IT contact for factory users and stakeholders, maintaining effective communication with remote and global IT teams.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and support for IT infrastructure including network connectivity, servers, client systems, and production tools.
  • Support day-to-day system operations including user provisioning, hardware/software deployment, patch management, and incident resolution.
  • Collaborate with global teams to maintain and support factory systems, MES, ERP, and other critical applications.
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing) and escalate complex issues to specialized teams appropriately.
  • Support and maintain Windows and Linux/Unix servers, ensuring system stability, performance, and security hardening.
  • Participate in routine operations such as OS patching, endpoint protection, system monitoring, and inventory control.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and participate in security initiatives including vulnerability remediation and endpoint management.
  • Assist with IT asset management, documentation, and audit readiness for local factory systems.

Required Experience/Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of IT support or system administration experience, preferably in a manufacturing or high-tech environment.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching.
  • Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux system administration, including scripting, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with endpoint security tools, patch management, and hardening practices.
  • Experience working with or overseeing third-party service providers or contractors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, service-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently on-site in a fast-paced, production-sensitive environment.
  • Experience with ITSM/ticketing platforms (e.g., ServiceNow), remote support tools, and documentation practices.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Spanish language proficiency for supporting regional operations.
  • Familiarity with factory system environments such as MES, ERP, or production data systems.
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or similar 24/7 production environments.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure in highly regulated or security-sensitive industries.
  • Experience with automation scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for routine operational tasks.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
