Job Title: Sr. Software Engineer (Kubernetes Admin/Engineer, EKS)
Job Location: Reston, VA (Remote)
Job Type: Contract
Notes:
- The role requires the candidate to have enterprise level experience. Our team works with many delivery teams and shared services engineers. The role requires knowledge of the breadth of topics. We are not seeing that right now. Candidates are not showing enterprise level problem solving skills and depth of process and technology.
- Moving lot of applications to cloud
- Build Devops pipeline that moves products in the cloud. Moving things to the cloud.
- EC2, EKS (AWS Manager Service control pane, good to have Kubernetes administration, ISTIO (tool for security) how to integrate security in DevOps pipeline, Contrast, Tidelift, Python or shell scripting, Sonar Cube
- Jira
- More of development experience on EKS and Kubernetes experience, good to have admin experience
- I think 3 years of solid EKS and Kubernetes experience is MUST HAVE
- Compile code, scan code for security
Job Description:
- The responsibilities include execution of full life cycle activities in support of multiple devops tools which will include but not limited to:
- Work directly with architect, principal and lead engineer, and other team members on design and implement tasks.
- Plan and build roadmaps for the EKS and AWS DevOps Implementation.
- Build Applications with EKS and AWS best practices
- Accountable for meeting milestones.
- Conduct code review, unit, and integration testing.
- Document system design and unit testing information
- Automation of manual steps
Required Skills:
- Hands on with EKS and AWS
- Hands on with Python, Shell scripting
- Have hands on skills with Cloudbees, BitBucket, Sonar, Artifactory, Cloud Native Practices. Wide breadth knowledge of development and testing best DevSecOps practices.
- Outstanding knowledge in Continuous Integration (CI), Testing (CT), Security, and deployment (CD) concepts. Working knowledge of JIRA and Confluence
- Apply engineering principles to improve resiliency, performance, efficiency, and scalability of the DevSecOps eco system
- Find opportunities and build automation to reduce team s interdependency
- Linux administration
- Windows administration
- Excellent documentation skills
- Self-starter and quick learner
- Be part of on call rotation
Day to Day Activities:
- Leverage the Devops Scoring Framework to improve DevOps and Product Maturity Index numbers for delivery teams.
- Build the agreed upon App that leverages EKS, Cloud native concepts and implement in production.
- Retrospect on the current implementation and document for future use.
- AWS and EKS operations
- Cloud Native tools
- Administer AWS console where Cloudbees Agent exists on the EC2 instance.
