Microsoft Purview Security Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Security Specialist with expertise in Microsoft Purview who will be responsible for securing the Organization M365 tenant through policy enforcement, cyber controls, audit logging, Purview data-protection, AvePoint security configuration, and change management.

Position Responsibilities

• Monitor Purview alerts, DLP triggers, and anomalies involving data movement or policy violations.
• Review audit logs for administrative actions across Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Power Platform.
• Validate AvePoint AOS security features, including access controls, key management, and event exports.
• Process and document Security Change Requests, mapping them to applicable security controls.
• Review and adjust conditional access policies, MFA enforcement, and privileged access activity.
• Investigate Defender alerts across identity, cloud apps, and email security ecosystems.
• Respond to priority service tickets involving access issues, suspicious activity, or security escalations.
• Assess tenant security posture and identify misconfigurations or improvement opportunities.
• Update security documentation, incident logs, and compliance artifacts.
• Participate in daily sync meetings to advise on secure architecture and remediation approaches.

Minimum Experience

• 6+ years in security engineering or cybersecurity.
• 3+ years implementing M365 security controls (Purview, DLP, sensitivity labels).
• At least 2+ M365 security projects involving multi-tenant identity and cloud security enforcement.

Preferred Certifications

• Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC-100)
• Microsoft Certified: Information Protection Administrator (SC-400)
• Security+ required, CISSP preferred
• Azure Security certification (AZ-500) strongly preferred.

Education

• Bachelor s in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Assurance.
• Advanced degree or NSA/DHS CAE program grad a plus.
