Job Title : Java Solutions Architect with Telecom Domain exp

Role Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Java Solutions Architect to lead design, architecture, and delivery of complex backend systems and large scale solutions. In this role, you will collaborate with engineering teams, product owners, business stakeholders, and other architects to ensure technical vision, architectural consistency, and high quality outcomes. You will work handson when needed, as well as oversee and review the work of others, enforcing standards, best practices, and scalable architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Define endtoend architecture for Javabased systems: microservices, APIs, integration, data flow, resiliency, observability, security.
- Participate in strategic technical planning, contribute to technology roadmap, evaluate future technology choices.
- Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and performant technical designs, and produce architecture artefacts (diagrams, documentation, POCs).
- Work closely with product management, project management, engineering teams, DevOps & QA to ensure solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and meet nonfunctional requirements (performance, scalability, security, availability).
- Lead technical design reviews, code reviews, architecture governance, and ensure conformance to enterprise standards and best practices.
- Guide and mentor engineering teams on Java technologies, design patterns, libraries, frameworks, infrastructure decisions.
- Ensure that the systems are secure, resilient, and maintainable; establish or enforce practices like logging, monitoring, fault tolerance, automated testing, continuous delivery.
- Ensure cloud deployment readiness (if applicable) working with cloud infrastructures, containerization, microservices, CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to integrate with other systems / thirdparty services. Handle data integration, API strategy, versioning.
- Assess risks and tradeoffs; make decisions on technologies, frameworks, architecture patterns (monolith vs microservices, eventdriven vs synchronous, etc.).
- Stay current with emerging trends in Java, distributed systems, containers & orchestration, cloud, security, etc., and bring in innovations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Master s degree preferred.
- 1015+ years of handson experience in software engineering / architecture, especially with Java / J2EE / modern Java versions.
- Deep experience with frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate / JPA etc.
- Strong understanding of building distributed systems / microservices architectures.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, API design & versioning, messaging / eventdriven architectures (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
- Solid grasp of databases: relational (e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and possibly NoSQL systems.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift or similar).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, build tools (Maven, Gradle), version control (Git).
- Demonstrated skills in performance, scalability, reliability, security (including secure coding, threat modelling).
- Excellent communication skills: ability to explain architecture to nontechnical stakeholders, write clear documentation, lead design reviews.
- Leadership & mentoring skills; ability to drive consensus in crossfunctional teams.
- Experience with cloud platforms preferred (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) or Verizon s inhouse cloud / infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in telecommunications, networking, or infrastructure services.
- Domain experience relevant to Verizon: networking, service platforms, operations, customerfacing services.
- Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Oracle/Java certifications, or equivalent.
- Experience with observability / monitoring / distributed tracing (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Zipkin / Jaeger).
- Experience in large scale, high throughput systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory, compliance, security standards relevant to telecom & data privacy.
