Job Description and Requirements

We Are:

At Synopsys, we drive the innovations that shape the way we live and connect. Our technology is central to the Era of Pervasive Intelligence, from self-driving cars to learning machines. We lead in chip design, verification, and IP integration, empowering the creation of high-performance silicon chips and software content. Join us to transform the future through continuous technological innovation.

The STK (Systems Tool Kit) team builds commercial mission modeling software trusted by thousands of customers worldwide, from evaluating communication link coverage to plotting lunar navigation. We are committed to solving complex, real-world problems by combining deep technical expertise with creative thinking and a passion for excellence.

You Are:

You are a highly experienced and motivated engineer with a passion for advancing the capabilities of mission-critical modeling software. Your expertise in communications and radar systems, combined with your hands-on experience in C++/C# application development, positions you as a technical leader and subject matter expert. You thrive in environments that challenge you to solve complex problems and innovate at every stage of the software lifecycle. With a background in Electrical or Computer Engineering, and years of experience in both development and domain-specific applications, you are adept at bridging technical depth with practical solutions.

Collaboration is at your core, whether you're leading architectural discussions, mentoring junior engineers, or engaging with strategic customers to refine product requirements. You value the importance of clear communication, rigorous technical reviews, and continuous learning. Your ability to navigate ambiguity, drive projects forward, and deliver robust, efficient code is matched by your commitment to best practices and technical excellence. Always looking ahead, you embrace new tools and technologies, and your curiosity pushes you to stay at the forefront of your field. Whether working independently or as part of a cross-functional, geographically dispersed team, you bring energy, vision, and a relentless focus on quality and customer impact.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Lead planning, architecture, and research efforts at a product-wide level, shaping the direction of STK's communications and radar modeling capabilities.
  • Coordinate product design and development activities, ensuring alignment with business and technical goals.
  • Act as a technical reference and mentor for your team, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Support requirements gathering and refinement sessions with strategic customers, translating their needs into actionable development plans.
  • Develop, document, and champion best practices, conducting technical reviews and mentoring junior developers to elevate team performance.
  • Perform complex bug verification and release testing, collaborating with QA and support teams to resolve issues and enhance product quality.
  • Understand and advocate for marketing requirements, including target environments, performance criteria, and competitive positioning.
  • Operate autonomously, taking initiative and ownership throughout the software development lifecycle.

The Impact You Will Have:
  • Drive innovation in mission modeling software, enabling customers to solve complex communications and radar challenges.
  • Enhance the reliability, scalability, and feature set of STK, directly impacting customer success in aerospace, defense, and related industries.
  • Mentor and uplift your team, cultivating a strong technical culture and empowering junior engineers to grow their skills.
  • Influence product strategy and roadmap by translating customer and market needs into technical solutions.
  • Improve the software development process through best practices, rigorous reviews, and continuous integration of emerging technologies.
  • Support Synopsys' reputation as a leader in high-performance, mission-critical software through your technical leadership and customer engagement.

What You'll Need:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 8+ years' experience; MS with 6+ years, or PhD with 4+ years (preferred).
  • Significant, hands-on experience in the Communications and/or Radar domain.
  • Proven expertise in C++ and/or C# application development, especially for large-scale commercial software.
  • Track record of developing robust and efficient code in high-performance, mission-critical environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of Visual Studio and modern development toolchains.
  • Experience with digital signal processing and spectrum management is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with tools such as GnuRadio, Simulink, and/or SystemVue.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and deliver high-quality products on time.

Who You Are:
  • Innovative thinker with a problem-solving mindset and a drive for technical excellence.
  • Natural leader who thrives in collaborative, cross-functional teams and enjoys mentoring others.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and able to operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to continuous learning and improvement.

The Team You'll Be A Part Of:

You will join the STK engineering team, a collaborative group of experts dedicated to advancing mission modeling software for diverse applications, including aerospace, defense, and commercial space. The team combines deep technical knowledge with agile development practices, working closely with customers and stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that address real-world challenges. You'll find a supportive environment that values curiosity, initiative, and a shared commitment to technical excellence.
