Description

Design, integrate, test, and improve conveyor interfaces with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)-based Plant Floor Systems (PFS) including Scalable Error Proofing (SEP) to automate GA and Body Shop systems, improve diagnostics at device level and meet cybersecurity guidelines. Engineer and validate designs including low voltage DC power circuits and Safety Integration Level 3 and 4 (SIL 3&4) hardware for operator safety. Design electrical architecture with power distribution panels (PDP) in high voltage and amperages including calculations for short circuit current rating (SCCR) following UL 508A. Calculate arc flash hazard following NFPA 70E and selection of devices following touch safe requirements in IEC 60204 industrial standard. Develop and generate Bills of Material (BOMs) for enhancements to current and replacement with new systems and technologies to maintain and optimize PLC-based systems software (using TIA Portal, Studio5000) and hardware functionality, including PLCs, Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), network switches, vision systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Fanuc robotics and SICK safety scanners to integrate new controls hardware with current and new plant IT systems based on GM Global Common Controls Hardware, Global Common Controls Software, Global Robotics Standards, and Global Common Controls Build.

Additional Description

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field, and two years of experience as an Engineer. Must also have experience with: validating designs including low voltage DC power circuits and SIL3&4 hardware for operator safety, and generating BOMs to optimize PLC-based systems software and hardware functionality, including PLCs, HMIs, network switches, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), and safety scanners to integrate controls hardware with plant IT systems.
