Job Title: DoD Senior Systems Administrator

Type: Contract to Hire

Location: 100% Onsite in Dayton, OH, Columbus, OH, or Richmond, VA

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Compensation: $58/hr. +

Brief Description of the Project: The Senior Systems Administrator ensures the stable operation of computer software systems and network connections. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network software and communication links. The role involves organizing and directing the configuration and operation of information management systems, analyzing and resolving end-user software program and connectivity issues, conducting capacity and performance analysis, and providing system configuration change and upgrade recommendations. The Senior Systems Administrator increases efficiency and accuracy via the use of automated tools and scripts, develops system administrator procedures, and conducts system administrator training and skills assessment. Additionally, the role includes providing end-user training and recommendations on technology direction to align with business vision.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide local and remote maintenance support to various operational systems deployed at multiple locations.
  • Perform general maintenance, upgrades, and new installs of servers and applications.
  • Direct the work of other system administrators to ensure day-to-day system administration, including system and resource optimization, and user assistance.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge of application networking, including load balancing applications and ensuring fault tolerance.
  • Perform vulnerability management.
  • Conduct capacity and performance analysis and provide system configuration change and upgrade recommendations.
  • Increase system administrator efficiency and accuracy via automated tools and scripts.
  • Develop system administrator procedures and conduct training and skills assessment.
  • Provide end-user training.
  • Provide recommendations on technology direction to align with business vision.


Must-Have Skills/Technologies:
  • 10 years of specialized experience in the IT field.
  • 4 years of concentrated hands-on experience in installing, configuring, and resolving issues with various Linux software.
  • Top Secret clearance or Tier 5 at the time of proposal (5/9).
  • Relevant Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or CompTIA Linux+ certification.


Nice to Have:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
