Operating Systems Specialist
This is a Full-Time (Contract) Remote position supporting United States Postal. Full benefits, PTO, and paid holidays is inclusive to this position.
Number of Available Positions: 17
Contract Term: 10/1/2025- 9/30/2026 (With possible extensions)
Salary Target: $80K-$125K/YR (Salary is flexible based on the relevant years of professional experience and background related to the position)
Requirements: Ability to work Night/Graveyard Shift; Prior experience in supporting Federal government agencies/projects within the past 2 years; Must be located/reside within the US; Senior-to-Expert Professional that is proficient & experienced with multiple Database Operating Systems including Unix, Windows, and Tomcat; Experienced with Database Administration and support of Oracle RDBMS- with additional experience with Postgres, NoSQL, SQL, and Cassandra DB; Experienced with Unix/Linux Server & Windows Server Administration; Experienced with Middle Tier Administration of current technologies that include Apache Tomcat, WildFly, Oracle Fusion Middle Tier (OFM), IBM WebSphere, Apache HTTP, Kubernetes, Docker and other types of containers, IBM MQ, Kafka, Zookeeper, RedHat OpenShift, RedHat 3scale Ansible, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Linux shell scripting, Microsoft PowerShell, JYTHON, AppDynamics, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Neustar and Splunk.

Database administration
The successful candidate will be able to perform complex functional activities in support of Oracle RDBMS products and services, including but not limited to the upgrade, installation and maintenance of Oracle RDBMS products and services in a complex Oracle RDBMS production environment. They should be able to diagnose and resolve complex problems in an Oracle RDBMS environment. They should also have a strong working knowledge, experience and ability with UNIX and Microsoft Windows operating systems as well as other database technologies such as Postgres, NoSQL, SQL and Cassandra DB.
Unix/Linux server administration
The successful candidate will be able to administer servers running the Unix and/or Linux operating system in a large, multi-datacenter environment. They will be expected to regularly exercise independent judgment, as well as high level of analytic skill, in solving complex technical problems for the USPS in the Linux Server and Virtual ESX environment. This individual serves as the focal point for problem resolution by interacting with USPS employees and (multiple) equipment and application vendors to ensure proper application installation and operation, and problem resolution. The individual will also serve as the trainer and mentor to other Linux Administrators at various times. This individual will be expected to work independently with a minimum of guidance or direction.
Windows server administration
The successful candidate will be able to perform complex functional activities in support of servers running the Windows server operating system for the USPS. They will be expected to regularly exercise independent judgment, as well as high level of analytic skill, in solving complex technical problems for the USPS in the Windows Server and Virtual ESX environment. This individual serves as the focal point for problem resolution by interacting with USPS employees and (multiple) equipment and application vendors to ensure proper application installation and operation, and problem resolution. The individual will also serve as the trainer and mentor to the other Windows Administrator position at various times. This individual will be expected to work independently with a minimum of guidance or direction.
Middle Tier administration
The successful candidate will be able to support USPS implemented middle tier technologies, including web and application servers, containers and container management technologies, messaging technologies, cloud platform and services, automation tools, scripting languages and monitoring tools. Current technologies in use include Apache Tomcat, WildFly, Oracle Fusion Middle Tier (OFM), IBM WebSphere, Apache HTTP, Kubernetes, Docker and other types of containers, IBM MQ, Kafka, Zookeeper, RedHat OpenShift, RedHat 3scale Ansible, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Linux shell scripting, Microsoft PowerShell, JYTHON, AppDynamics, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Neustar and Splunk.
