Typical Day in the Role



  • Monitor and Troubleshoot Daily Loads: Review overnight and early-morning job runs (FastLoad, MultiLoad, BTEQ). Investigate and troubleshoot data load or transformation failures. Monitor automated logs and alerts for missing data, delays, or errors.
  • SQL Development & Optimization: Develop and enhance complex stored procedures, views, and tables to support evolving data requirements. Leverage advanced SQL techniques such as cursor logic, temp tables, and set-based operations. Participate in peer reviews and optimize existing queries for performance and scalability.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis & Data Validation: Fulfill data extraction and analysis requests from business analysts, provider teams, and stakeholders. Write complex SQL queries to support business questions and validate results against source systems and vendor files. Package and deploy developed stored procedures, tables, and views using GitLab. Maintain deployment documentation and rollback plans.
  • Collaboration & Documentation: Participate in team stand-ups and planning to communicate progress and blockers. Document logic, transformation rules, and deployment procedures in Confluence or shared repositories.


Performance expectations:



  • Ensure 100% successful execution of SSIS packages with minimal errors or delays.
  • Meet SLAs for data extraction, transformation, and loading without impacting downstream processes.
  • Maintain high data quality standards by ensuring encounter data meets state and federal compliance guidelines.
  • Deliver accurate and timely reports/dashboards that align with business requirements.
  • Provide actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.


First Day on assignment:



  • Meet with the team and key stakeholders for introductions and an overview of the team's structure and ongoing projects.
  • Gain access to SQL Server, Teradata, Power BI, and any version control systems ( Git ).
  • Review security protocols, HIPAA compliance guidelines, and other regulatory standards relevant to healthcare data.

Candidate Requirements



  • Required: Bachelor in math, statistics, information systems, computer science, or related field Preferred:
  • Years of experience required: Minimum 5 years
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in SQL development, with advanced proficiency in writing complex stored procedures, functions, and performance-optimized queries. Strong expertise in Teradata, including use of BTEQ, FastLoad, and MultiLoad utilities. Solid understanding of cursor logic, temporary tables, set-based operations, and error-handling techniques in SQL.
  • Disqualifiers: Not located in CA.
  • Additional qualities to look for: Experience with SSIS, Informatica IICS, or Python for data extraction, transformation, and automation across large datasets. Power Automate for Workflow Automation. PowerBi -Visualization experience. Prior experience working with healthcare data such as claims, encounters, eligibility, or provider performance metrics. Understanding of HIPAA compliance and working with sensitive healthcare data is preferred.. Healthcare Domain Expertise: Experience with risk adjustment, encounter data processing, claims submissions, and CMS regulatory workflow
