DPP is seeking a Technical Advisor for an opportunity with our client in Columbia, SC.

Work arrangement:
  • Remote
  • W2 position; 12 months
Summary:
  • Provide technical expertise on decisions and priorities regarding the enterprise s overall systems architecture. Provide technical guidance to project team areas as appropriate.
  • Provide application release and environment technical coordination across application projects, ensuring releases move from development to test to production smoothly, working closely with application teams, project managers and integrated system teams.

Minimum required work experience:
  • 10 Years IT experience including 5 years progressive responsibility within area of expertise.
Job/class description:
  • Diagnose, isolate, and debug software problems and perform problem resolution. Identify issues that the vendor is responsible for and refer those issues appropriately.
  • Provide technical guidance to project team areas as appropriate. Evaluate vendor-supplied software packages and make recommendations to IT management. In coordination with Project Leads, provide input on all proposals that could potentially impact systems. May perform sizing on proposed new services and systems through simulations of system configurations and capacity modeling for multiple platforms to establish capacity requirements.
  • Serve as an expert resource to IT groups in planning the resource requirements for systems under development. Review and design system software and hardware builds analyzing system options, risks, cost vs. benefit, and impact on the enterprise business process and goals. Develop and document the framework for integration and implementation for changes to technical standards.
  • Coordinate installation, testing, and maintenance of systems software. Provide data needed to ensure reliability and availability of platforms to meet business objectives. Schedule system downtime in a way that minimizes user impact.
  • Review customer requests, security patches, and audit requirements for additions or changes to systems, and evaluate feasibility to determine if/how to handle the request while maintaining an adequate/appropriate overall systems infrastructure. To determine if requested changes are possible, review system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations. Ensure data integrity and space requirements are met across a variety of platforms.
  • Facilitate the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions, including architecting and implementing solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms, operating systems, and applications across the enterprise.
  • Provide technical and disaster recovery support for systems software.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Maintaining a mainframe application environment, working closely with infrastructure and application teams to resolve issues and evolve our environment to support business growth.
  • Must have a strong z/OS Mainframe development, support and administration background as well as experience with release management, and technical coordination of mainframe project deliveries.
  • Technical competencies COBOL 6.x, z/OS 2.5, JCL, CICS 5.6 CA Datacom, VSAM, SQL ISPF, ISPF Dialog Manager, Expeditor (or similar tooling) Endevor R16 or greater Application optimization in a JES2 environment
  • A self-starter, capable of working both independently and in team environments.
  • Strong customer service, organizational skills, knowledge of applicable DoD/Government policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated exceptional ability to troubleshoot complex systems required.
  • Solid understanding of industry standard availability and security practices required.
  • 10+ years' experience with z/OS mainframe support, administration and development, demonstrating advanced knowledge in key technologies preferred.
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking skills.
  • Thorough understanding of operating systems and foundation architecture. Expert knowledge of the following as applicable: systems programming, graphical user interfaces, control languages, development, quality assurance, integration methodologies, and the use of currently utilized programming productivity tools.
  • Expert knowledge in the analysis of system software, tools, technologies, and/or products and making recommendations for performance enhancements.
  • Thorough understanding of the implications of multiple systems software products.
  • Standard office equipment.
Work environment:
  • Fast paced, multi-platformed environment which may require action and response 24X7 to support the technical business needs of the customer.
Required education/equivalencies:
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree;
  • OR, Associate s degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience;
  • OR, 4 years job-related work experience (total 14 years without a degree)
