Job Title: WordPress Developer Location: Norfolk, VA - Onsite
contract: C2C
Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented WordPress Developer to design, implement, and manage websites using the WordPress platform. The ideal candidate will have experience with custom themes, plugins, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop responsive, user-friendly websites using WordPress.
  • Customize existing themes and plugins as per requirements.
  • Create custom plugins or functionalities when needed.
  • Maintain, update, and troubleshoot existing WordPress websites.
  • Ensure websites are optimized for performance, SEO, and accessibility.
  • Integrate third-party APIs and services (e.g., Mailchimp, Stripe, HubSpot).
  • Collaborate with designers, content creators, and project managers.
  • Conduct cross-browser and device testing.
  • Maintain proper documentation and code repositories (e.g., Git).

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in WordPress CMS, theme development, and plugin architecture.
  • Strong experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL.
  • Experience with page builders like Elementor, WPBakery, or Gutenberg.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and AJAX.
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and accessibility standards.
  • Experience with Git and version control systems.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with WooCommerce, ACF (Advanced Custom Fields), and CPTs.
  • Familiarity with performance optimization (caching, minification, CDN).
  • Basic knowledge of security best practices in WordPress.
  • Experience with deployment tools or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with tools like Figma or Adobe XD for design handoff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field (preferred, not mandatory).
  • 2 5+ years of hands-on experience with WordPress development.

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of headless WordPress or integration with front-end frameworks (React, Vue).
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team environment.
