Job Description of Process Control engineer

A Process Control Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and
implementing control systems for fuel cell power plants. This involves optimizing the
performance, efficiency, and reliability of fuel cell systems by managing parameters like
temperature, pressure, flow rates, and electrical output. They work with control algorithms,
sensors, actuators, and other components to ensure the fuel cell system operates safely and
effectively.
Responsibilities:
Designing Control Systems:
Developing control strategies for various fuel cell system components like fuel processing,
air management, thermal management, and power conditioning.
Developing Control Algorithms:
Implementing control logic using software and hardware to regulate system parameters and
optimize performance.
Selecting and Integrating Components:
Choosing appropriate sensors, actuators, controllers, and other components for the control
system and integrating them into the overall fuel cell system.
System Optimization:
Fine-tuning control parameters to improve efficiency, reliability, and responsiveness of the
fuel cell system.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
Identifying and resolving issues related to control system performance, including analyzing
data, conducting diagnostics, and implementing corrective actions.
Collaboration:
Working closely with other engineers, technicians, and researchers to integrate control
systems into the overall fuel cell design and ensure seamless operation.
Ensuring Safety:
Incorporating safety mechanisms and protocols into the control system to prevent hazards
and ensure safe operation of the fuel cell system.
Key Skills and Knowledge:
Control Systems Engineering:
Strong understanding of control theory, feedback control systems, and control algorithms.
Basic Knowledge of chemical and mechanical engineering principles related to fuel cell
systems,
Data Analysis and Simulation:
Ability to analyze test data, create simulations, and use software for system modelling and
optimization.
