Permian Power ITE: Request for Data Science Architect/Engineer

Tasks/Expectations
Develop understanding of power related data sets and flows

Document relationships between power related datasets (annotated screenshots of data canvas are sufficient)



  • Work closely with data engineering resources and data scientist resources to ingest required data into spotfire

    • Evaluate what data needs preprocessing and/what can be done in spotfire

    • Make recommendations for data ingestion not currently obtained by XOM



  • Develop comprehensive "Manager View" dashboard of power related data

  • Show the high level usage, generation, and consumption trends of power over time (daily - monthly frequency expected)

    • Enable dashboard to drill down into a specific area/ BU (Delaware, Midland, CBP, Del TX)

    • Incorporate billing so keep "eyes on every dollar"




Correlate aforementioned billing data with trends (Ercot market trends, weather, other factors to be determined by business)



  • Develop Electrical Engineer Dashboard (currently called Permian Power POC Dashboard)


Data-sets Required



  • Power Related Billing Data (ODS -> Capturis, SQL Server Endpoint -> Scraped Billing Data)

  • Power Usage Data (ODS - Smart Meter Texas, ADX -> Ignition Data)

  • ERCOT Pricing Data (ODS - ercot schema)

  • Weather Related Data (API)


Skillset



  • Code development with various tools like, Python, Spotfire, PowerBI

  • Experience in developing data flow concepts with data pulled from various equipment monitoring sources

  • Ability to develop architectural drawings representing system interfaces, data sources, output/reporting

  • Ability to work with data engineers and architects to develop a system that collects, interprets, monitors, and manages power type data collected from various power equipment sources

  • Power grid experience a plus but not required


Business Value + Justification



  • Current progress on Permian power related dashboards is not progressing at the necessary pace to support the Permian Expansion Project. A dedicated full time resource is required so that context switching is lessened and an business understanding of power and its related complexities can be established.

  • By 2029, the Permian will be spending >$1B in OPEX on power (excluding Pioneer). These dashboards will the primary interface for the business to evaluate and scrutinize their spend.
