Position Overview

This position is responsible for providing technical leadership for the Oracle platform, production support for the DigiKey Oracle ERP (WinDECs) database, and tasks associated with Principal Database Administrator role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for the Oracle database platform.
  • Perform advanced Oracle database problem diagnosis and resolution, including performance tuning.
  • Provide support to Digi-Key Oracle ERP (WinDECs) application developers and business users.
  • Participate in Oracle 24x7 on-call rotation.
  • Mentor junior team members on a regular basis.
  • Acquire workable Snowflake, MongoDB, Qlik and Golden Gate knowledge.
  • Provide day-to-day direction to the DBA team, prioritize technical tasks, and assign incoming requests.
  • Facilitate DBA meetings covering Oracle, Snowflake, MongoDB, Qlik and Golden Gate areas.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree and 15+ years of experience with Oracle relational database platform.
  • Advanced knowledge of relational database management system and principles, and database security.
  • Advanced knowledge of Oracle Internals, SQL, and SQL tuning.
  • Advanced experience with standard Oracle database administration tasks.
  • Solid knowledge of Linux and shell scripting.
  • Demonstrate ability to acquire knowledge of new database technologies while on the job.
  • Be self-reliant and self-driven.
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to pay meticulous attention to details, meet goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose issues and come up with solutions and/or workarounds.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with running meetings, day-to-day direction giving, and task prioritization.
  • Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times.
  • Exercise self-control under trying or tough circumstances, situations, or under any kind of pressure.
  • Experience and availability for 24x7 on-call.
  • Availability for after-hours and weekend work (as needed).
