About the team and the role:
eBay, Inc. seeks MTS 1, Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
What you will accomplish:
Job Duties: Design, develop and deploy product based search experience incorporating software engineering best practices to enhance eBay's buying experience and test complex software features. Identify and fix performance, scalability, and other software live issues in a very time-critical environment. Ensure code quality and maintainability by evolving architecture and tech stack, refactoring, standards and improving build and test systems. Estimate engineering efforts, plan execution cycles, and rollout system changes. Utilize experience with automation testing frameworks and web development technologies. Build and support complex web services and experience services stack. Write client-side code for web based applications and develop new prototypes quickly. Work closely with eBay's Product, Science, Ranking, Front End, and Design teams to customize the user experience for eBay search. Develop and implement the next generation search products that are fast, scalable, secure, and easy to use. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
What you will bring:
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Experience designing and developing large-scale software applications using Object-Oriented Design and Java (2 years).
2. Experience writing scripts and designing tooling and automation using Python (2 years).
3. Experience using server-side Java frameworks including Spring and Spring Boot (2 years).
4. Experience using Distributed backend systems for storage and retrieval of data, and experience with database technologies including SQL and NoSQL databases (2 years).
5. Experience launching features based on A/B testing framework, and writing production ready code for customer facing features (2 years).
6. Experience building backend application using graphQL framework (2 years).
7. Experience productionizing and developing in containers like Kubernetes (2 years).
8. Experience working with Front End Engineers and using design tools (Figma or Lucidchart) and JavaScript to establish contracts or prototypes for features (2 years).
9. Experience with data structures and algorithms, software design patterns, and agile methodology (2 years).
10. Experience using day to day software engineering skills including Linux, Git, Docker, Postman and RESTful API services (2 years).
Salary: $226,158.00-262,900.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
