Position Overview
The IPS Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Administrator will be responsible for supporting and maintaining critical enterprise systems used in the operation and reliability of the electric grid. This role focuses on administration and data management of the Outage Management System (OMS), CIM-based Network Model Management, and compliance processes related to FERC Order 881 Advanced Facilities Ratings Management. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electric transmission and distribution operations, data modeling standards (CIM), and the integration of network model data across OMS, EMS, and GIS platforms.
Key Responsibilities
System Administration & Support
- Administer and maintain the IPS Transmission & Distribution systems, ensuring high availability, data integrity, and operational reliability.
- Manage user access, roles, and security for OMS and network model applications.
- Coordinate system updates, patches, and configuration changes in collaboration with IT and operations teams.
Outage Management System (OMS)
- Oversee OMS configuration, data synchronization, and model validation to ensure accurate outage response and restoration tracking.
- Support integration between OMS, GIS, SCADA, and customer information systems.
- Develop and maintain procedures for outage data accuracy, event reporting, and system restoration analytics.
CIM-Based Network Model Management
- Maintain and validate the Common Information Model (CIM) network data across operational systems.
- Support the import, export, and reconciliation of network model data between T&D applications (EMS, DMS, GIS).
- Collaborate with engineering teams to align the network model with physical system configurations.
FERC Order 881 Advanced Facilities Ratings
- Support implementation and ongoing management of FERC Order 881 compliance activities.
- Administer systems and data workflows for dynamic line ratings, ambient adjustments, and real-time facilities rating management.
- Develop reports and documentation to support internal compliance audits and regulatory submissions.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in Transmission and Distribution system administration or related utility operations.
- Hands-on experience with Outage Management Systems (OMS) and CIM-based network modeling.
- Knowledge of FERC Order 881 requirements and facilities ratings management processes.
- Strong understanding of utility operations, data integration, and model synchronization across OMS, EMS, and GIS.
- Proficiency with SQL, scripting, and data management tools.
- Experience with IPS Energy or similar asset and outage management platforms.
- Familiarity with IEC CIM standards (61968/61970).
- Knowledge of SCADA, ADMS, or Energy Management Systems integration.
- Experience with NERC/FERC compliance documentation and reporting.
- Analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration with technical and operational teams.
- Attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced utility environment.
