Job Title: Sr. Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Santa Clara, CA
Duration: 8 Months
Xoriant reasonably expects the pay rate for this position to be within the following range: $60.00/hour-$70.00/hour.
Duties: As a key member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of development, launch, and support of the mechanical elements of our hardware products in the factory & supply chain. You will work closely with cross-functional teams that include various development engineering teams (electrical/hardware, mechanical, compliance, etc), operations teams (NPI Program Mgmt, Supply Chain, TechOps, etc.), and our contract manufacturing (CM) partners (EMS, JDM, ODM). Your efforts will result in cybersecurity products that provide industry-leading protection to our customers and outstanding business results to the company.
Your Impact
Drive DfX into the HW products through collaborative review of designs from early engagement & proto builds through to mass production to meet manufacturability, quality, time to market, and cost goals.
Partner w/ our CM partners to drive and fully own factory/line readiness & capability for mechanical aspects of manufacturing & assy (SMT & FATP) across assigned new product programs for all development builds to mass production and sustaining through to end of sales / service. Drive build activities onsite at manufacturing facilities.
Strategically define & develop product bills of materials, structures, and assemblies in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools to enable production & serviceability and to manage ECOs & deviations efficiently, partnering with Document Control & development engineering teams.
Strategically develop & process ECOs & implementation plans (dispositions, et al.) to support NPI & sustaining design changes, mfg process changes, quality issue resolution, & SW quals
Drive RCCA at factory for mechanical design & mfg process issues
Support repair activities as needed and provide mechanical technical support for failure analysis of product field failures across the global customer base.
Support various continuous improvement initiatives & activities across Mfg Eng & TechOps
Skills: Your Experience
A highly collaborative working style in a team environment.
Demonstrated track record of successfully launching & sustaining electro-mechanical products into manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of design & manufacturing processes in mechanical assembly required. Knowledge of printed circuit boards & electro-mechanical integration desired.
Proficiency with PLM (Arena or Agile) software and 3D CAD modeling tools, such as SolidWorks.
Strong quantitative process development skills including FMEA, tolerance analysis, DoE, SPC, GR&R, and CpK.
Experience collaborating with CMs in low / medium volume, high mix environments.
Experience developing products with various development models (OEM, JDM, ODM) a strong plus.
Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally across a range of technical disciplines with a broad slate of stakeholders such as management, peers, and suppliers.
Able to travel regularly to suppliers / factories locally (Milpitas, et al.), and occasionally in Asia; support conference calls with global team & partners in Asia & Europe within reason.
Preferred work experiences with material vendors to source the ideal packaging materials
Education: BS in mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent combination of training & experience
