Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated SQL Ninja to join our team The ideal candidate has deep expertise in all facets of database management with a particular focus on optimizing performance and ensuring the security and integrity of our critical data systems You will be a key resource for developers and analysts solving complex data challenges and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement
Responsibilities:
Performance optimization Proactively analyse tune and optimize complex TSQL queries and stored procedures to improve database performance and scalability
Database architecture Design and implement robust scalable and secure database schemas and structures that meet business requirements and anticipate future needs
Troubleshooting and problem solving Diagnose and resolve complex database related issues including system bottlenecks deadlocks and connectivity problems
Data security Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect against unauthorized access SQL injection and data breaches
ETL processes Develop implement and maintain efficient Extract Transform Load ETL processes to manage data pipelines and data warehouses
Maintenance and recovery Automate routine database maintenance tasks and establish protocols for data backup and recovery to ensure high availability and prevent data loss
Reporting Create enhance and maintain reports for business intelligence and data driven decision making
Mentorship Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for junior developers and analysts sharing knowledge and performing code reviews
Skills and qualifications:
Advanced SQL proficiency Mastery of SQL including deep knowledge of advanced functions joins subqueries and window functions
Performance tuning expertise Demonstrated experience with SQL profiling index optimization and execution plan analysis
Database management systems Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server including SSIS SSRS and TSQL with knowledge of other database systems like PostgreSQL or MySQL being a plus
Agile methodology Experience working in an agile environment and collaborating effectively with cross functional teams
Scripting and automation Ability to use scripting languages eg PowerShell to automate database tasks
Communication skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders
Attention to detail Strong problem solving abilities and a meticulous approach to data integrity
