Job Details

Position: Senior MySQL / AWS Aurora DBA

Location: San Jose, CA – Onsite
Employment Type: W2 only

Key Skills & Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with MySQL performance tuning and optimization

  • Proven experience operating and optimizing AWS Aurora (RDS) in production environments

  • Expertise in query profiling, EXPLAIN / EXPLAIN ANALYZE, indexing, and schema tuning

  • Ability to identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks, including locking, workload analysis, and parameter tuning

  • Experience designing data archiving and purging strategies while maintaining data integrity

  • Experience with Aurora MySQL engine upgrades, including blue/green deployments

  • Strong knowledge of monitoring, alerting, backup & restore, failover, and operational best practices

  • Excellent communication skills are mandatory — the client is very particular about communication
