Overview

The Payments, Product and Pricing team is looking for a Principal Engineer to lead microservices development and cloud integrations for payment products.

This role requires expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud development, AKS, Spring Boot microservices. The ideal candidate should have experience leading software and product development, integrating with Azure Service Bus and Event Hub, and working with SaaS products. Proficiency in API development, Azure DevOps, and Agile methodology is essential. Strong technical leadership and collaboration skills are also required.

This role requires strong technical leadership and close collaboration Technical Product Owner, senior engineers, business stakeholders, vendors, and various internal teams.

Responsibilities
  • Provide recommendations and best practices on real-time and cloud-native integrations, scalability, security, and reliability.
  • Lead the development of Azure microservices using Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS).
  • Offer Azure best practices for compute services, storage, and messaging.
  • Design and specify API architecture.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of a unified payment orchestration platform.
  • Recommend best practices for SaaS integrations, focusing on security, scalability, cloud storage, and reporting.
  • Drive the adoption of continuous integration and agile delivery practices.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and vendors to deliver payment modernization initiatives.
  • Develop and deploy applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Utilize Azure services for containerization and orchestration.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable microservices.
  • Integrate with third-party SaaS products.
  • Implement and manage API integrations.
  • Work with Azure databases (e.g., Azure SQL, Cosmos DB).
  • Handle event-driven architecture and events in Azure.
  • Provide technical leadership and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications
  • Significant experience working as a solution architect or principal engineer at large multi-function organization, preferably at a large financial service organization.
  • Significant experience with API Driven, Domain Driven, and Event Driven architectures and integration patterns.
  • Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot and lead microservices development.
  • Experience with Azure services, especially AKS.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture and development.
  • Knowledge of API integrations and Azure databases.
  • Significant experience with Kubernetes, Event Hub, Service Bus, and API Gateways
  • Significant experience with big data technologies, Azure Data services, Azure Data Lakes, analytics, and reporting
  • Broad knowledge of cloud networking and architecture.
  • Experience with Agile product delivery models.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of NFCU operations, processes and procedures
  • Experience with agile delivery frameworks and Azure DevOps
  • Advanced knowledge of banking/financial industry standards and practices
  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Applications, and/or a similar field
