Description
Cisco Unified Communications Engineer/Architect
Seeking a highly skilled Cisco Unified Communications Engineer to lead the redesign and simplification of our Cisco telephony environment. The ideal candidate will have deep architectural experience with Cisco's suite of communication and collaboration tools, strong change management skills, and the ability to work on-site with hospital departments to drive adoption and support.
Project Overview & Cost Optimization Impact
This initiative aims to redesign and simplify the Cisco telephony system by removing unnecessary features, standardizing configurations, and reducing operational complexity.
The project is expected to significantly decrease support workload, by streamlining processes such as user profile management and reducing daily ticket volume.
By establishing a baseline, supportable telephony model, the organization can reallocate technical resources to higher-value tasks, such as reporting and analytics, rather than routine maintenance.
The approach is designed to be patient-centric, ensuring essential hospital communications are maintained while eliminating unsupported or redundant options.
If successful, the simplified model and documentation can serve as a pilot for replication across other ministries, enabling broader cost optimization and operational efficiency throughout the organization.
The project may also allow for flexible staffing models, including the use of contractors for short-term redesigns, further reducing long-term personnel costs.
Responsibilities:
Architect, redesign, and implement Cisco Unified Communications solutions, focusing on reducing unnecessary complexity and standardizing configurations across departments.
Lead the migration and simplification of existing profiles, features, and customizations to a baseline, supportable model.
Maintain and troubleshoot Cisco Call Manager (CUCM), Cisco CER, Cisco Unity Connection, and Cisco Contact Center.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and remove non-essential features, ensuring patient-centric functionality and compliance with hospital requirements.
Document redesign processes and provide training and support to technical staff and end users.
Manage Cisco Expressway, UCS infrastructure, and analog gateways.
Support Cisco WebEx (Jabber Voice), Unified Border Element, and routers.
Serve as a coach and mentor, facilitating department-level adoption and change management.
Potentially expand successful redesigns to other ministries.
