Scientific Technical Analyst

Position: Scientific Technical Analyst/Writer (HPC & AI Focus)

Work Environment: This is a remote position, however, we prefer candidates who are within driving distance to Annapolis Junction, MD for the occasional in-person meeting or interview.

Background: The ideal candidate is a graduate student or professional, enrolled in a MS degree program in science and technology, i.e., MS in engineering or physics. The position requires analytical skills to evaluate new technologies and to understand complex requirements linking both contractual and technological aspects. Advanced writing skills are required on complex technical topics; demonstrated experience in the preparation of scientific papers and presentations to technical conferences would be a plus. The areas of interest for which we are seeking a candidate are high performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI), with potential intersections between the two disciplines. Our fast paced and highly technical environment will enable the candidate to grow his/her knowledge significantly in two of the top trending technical sectors nowadays: HPC and AI.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technology Analysis and Evaluation: Conduct in-depth analysis of emerging HPC and AI technologies to assess their capabilities, potential applications, and alignment with IC requirements. Evaluate technical and contractual documents to ensure comprehensive understanding and compliance.
• Technical Writing: Develop high-quality technical documentation, including scientific papers, reports, and presentations for technical conferences. Communicate complex HPC and AI concepts and developments clearly and effectively to a diverse audience, including technical experts and non-technical stakeholders.
• Research and Development Support: Collaborate with a team of experts to support research and development initiatives in HPC and AI. Provide analytical support to explore the intersections between HPC and AI, identifying synergies and innovative approaches to leverage these technologies in support of the IC.
• Knowledge Expansion: Engage in continuous learning to stay abreast of the latest trends, techniques, and advancements in HPC and AI. Participate in workshops, seminars, and other educational opportunities to further enhance expertise in these critical technology sectors.

Qualifications:

• Education: Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a MS degree program in engineering, physics, or a related field of science and technology.
• Analytical Skills: Exceptional ability to analyze and interpret complex technical and contractual information. Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to think critically about technological and scientific challenges.
• Technical Writing: Advanced writing skills with a proven track record of producing scientific papers and technical documentation. Experience presenting at technical conferences is highly desirable.
• Interviewing Skills: Proficient interviewing skills with the ability to effectively engage and extract crucial technical information from subject matter experts. This includes the capability to conduct structured interviews, synthesize technical approaches, and document complex process flows accurately.
• Technical Expertise: Demonstrated interest and knowledge in HPC and AI, including understanding of the latest technologies, trends, and applications in these fields. Familiarity with the integration of HPC and AI technologies is a plus.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
