PLC Programmer (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell) Fridley, MN
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement PLC programs from scratch and modify existing programs using Allen-Bradley (AB) and Rockwell PLCs (e.g., ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix, SLC 500 platforms).
- Develop and configure Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems to interface with PLCs.
- Collaborate with engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, process) to define system requirements, functional specifications, and design documentation for automotive and industrial development projects.
- Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and commissioning of PLC programs and integrated control systems on-site and in a factory acceptance testing (FAT) environment.
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on existing PLC-controlled equipment to identify and resolve operational issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Optimize PLC code for efficiency, reliability, and maintainability, adhering to industry best practices and company standards.
- Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel on PLC programming and control system operation.
- Participate in all phases of the project lifecycle, from conceptual design through to successful project completion and hand-off.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in PLC technology, industrial automation, and relevant industry standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Minimum of [X years - e.g., 3-5 years] of hands-on experience as a PLC Programmer.
- Expert-level proficiency in programming, configuring, and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLCs is essential.
- Demonstrated experience with Rockwell Software products including Studio 5000 Logix Designer, RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500, FactoryTalk View ME/SE, and RSLinx.
- Proven experience in automotive and industrial development environments, including understanding of manufacturing processes, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, ProfiNet).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for commissioning or support (if applicable specify percentage).
- Experience with other PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron) is a plus.
- Knowledge of robotics programming (e.g., Fanuc, Kuka, ABB).
- Experience with vision systems and integration.
- Understanding of industry-specific standards and regulations for automotive or other industrial sectors.
