SOFT's client located in Richmond, VA is looking for a IBM MQ Administrator - Intermediate for a long term contract assignment.
Intermediate-Level IBM MQ Administrator
Role Overview:
At the intermediate level, an IBM MQ administrator should be proficient in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting IBM MQ across multiple environments, including high-availability (HA) and clustering.
Responsibilities:
Technical Skills:
Advanced Configuration Managing distributed queue managers, advanced channel configurations, and multi-instance queue managers.
High Availability & Clustering Setting up and managing HA environments, queue manager clusters, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
Advanced Security Implementing SSL/TLS encryption, OAM security policies, and integrating LDAP for authentication.
Performance Tuning Optimizing queue manager and channel configurations for high throughput and low latency.
Integration & Automation Developing scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automated monitoring and maintenance.
Advanced Troubleshooting Diagnosing complex messaging failures, dead-letter queues, and performance bottlenecks using tools like dmpmqmsg, strmqtrc, dspmqtrc.
Application Support & Development Knowledge Understanding how applications interact with IBM MQ, including JMS and REST API.
Monitoring & Alerting Using IBM MQ monitoring tools (IBM MQ Explorer, Prometheus, Splunk, or Nagios) to track queue performance and generate alerts.
