Job Summary:

The Scrum Master with a focus on GIS (Geographic Information Systems) plays a pivotal role in facilitating Agile delivery of ESRI-based GIS solutions. This individual will serve as a servant leader to Agile teams, ensuring adherence to Scrum practices and fostering a collaborative, self-organizing, and high-performing environment. Strong expertise in GIS software (especially ESRI tools) and the ability to bridge communication between technical teams and business stakeholders are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as Scrum Master for one or more Agile teams focused on ESRI-based GIS product development and implementation.
• Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
• Guide teams in Agile/Scrum best practices and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality GIS solutions.
• Collaborate with Product Owners to manage and refine the product backlog, ensuring clear requirements and prioritization.
• Remove impediments that hinder the team's progress, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
• Promote transparency and visibility by maintaining relevant Agile artifacts and dashboards (e.g., burndown charts, Jira boards).
• Work closely with GIS developers, analysts, and stakeholders to understand technical needs and drive team alignment.
• Support the team in the configuration, development, and integration of ESRI GIS solutions such as ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online.
• Monitor team performance, velocity, and capacity, adjusting processes or coaching as needed to improve efficiency and outcomes.
• Serve as an Agile advocate within the organization and contribute to scaling Agile practices across GIS and technical teams.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Geography, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience serving as a Scrum Master in GIS or software development environments.
• Deep understanding of ESRI s suite of tools, including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and related technologies.
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or similar Agile certification required; SAFe, PMI-ACP, or equivalent is a plus.
• Strong facilitation, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with Agile project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
• Ability to mentor teams and individuals on Agile principles and foster a collaborative team culture.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Desired Skills:

• Experience with GIS implementation, spatial data management, and customization of ESRI products.
• Knowledge of cloud-based GIS platforms and spatial analysis methodologies.
• Familiarity with Agile scaling frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS) and DevOps practices.
• Ability to work with distributed teams and manage remote collaboration.
