Job Title: Sr. Mechanical Engineer
Location: Oshkosh, WI (Onsite)
Duration: Contract position until 3/31/2026 with possibility to extend.
Interview Process: HM will request interview via Teams.


Pay Range: $60 to $64 per hour on W2

***Knowledge of C++ and Python experience is required**

Summary:

  • We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer, preferably with prior experience working on Oshkosh vehicles. The candidate must be proficient in Creo, PTC, Windchill, and Microsoft Office.
  • The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing functional, reliable, and cost-effective components for heavy-duty vehicles. This includes performing engineering analysis, redesigning components, and supporting integration into new and existing platforms.
  • Under supervision, the engineer will carry out calculations, investigations, and tasks aligned with Oshkosh and industry standards. They will assist senior engineers in preparing plans, designs, and reports, and may manage projects of limited complexity or multiple smaller projects. Collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers is essential.
  • The role includes mentoring entry-level engineers and technicians, maintaining effective communication across stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to engineering criteria and company policies. The engineer will evaluate designs for safety and reliability, prepare layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material, and support part selection through engineering analysis.
  • Additional responsibilities include providing production support, resolving technical issues, preparing proposals and reports, maintaining project documentation, and using analytical methods to optimize system performance.

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and at least three years of relevant experience. A degree in mechanical engineering and knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle systems are preferred, along with experience using advanced CAD systems.
  • The role requires strong communication skills, decision-making ability, and problem-solving judgment. It may involve leading others, managing tasks, and adapting procedures to new challenges.
  • Work conditions include frequent standing, sitting, typing, and communication tasks, with occasional lifting and manual dexterity. The environment may involve frequent task changes, exacting work, and occasional public contact. The schedule follows routine hours with infrequent overtime or weekend work. Deadlines and workload may vary, occasionally causing stress or requiring interaction with distressed individuals.
