Sr. Network Architect (Intelligent Transportation Systems)

1 Position

BG Staffing is currently searching for a Sr. Network Architect with Intelligent Transportation Systems experience.

This position is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of a network dedicated to transit-related initiatives. This includes identifying/leading the resolution of problems, performance monitoring, etc. This position is expected to demonstrate advanced knowledge and proficiency in the maintenance and management of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), including traffic signal networking, connected vehicle technology, and transit communication networks.

Design, implement, and support networking for intelligent transportation systems, including advanced traffic signal controllers, adaptive signal control, and transit signal priority (TSP) systems.

Responsible for the design, implementation, and support of a network dedicated to all transit- related initiatives.

Maintain the overall network at optimal operating levels, including solution design, implementation, administration, and support.

Monitor network performance and health, addressing any issues that arise.

Work with third parties to provide secure and approved access as needed to meet business requirements.

Oversee complex network design, including routing, hardware, and software components, ensuring compliance with standards.

Provide engineering oversight for complex network projects to improve overall network health and performance.

Required Experience

At least 3 years of experience as a Network Architect

7 plus years of experience in networking services with demonstrated experience with Cisco products, enterprise networking environment, and network performance monitoring tools, including software defined networking

Experience communicating complex technical material to both technical and non-technical audiences and have to ability to solve complex problems

Must have experience with ITS networking and communication protocols, including National Transportation Communications for Intelligent Transportation System Protocol (NTCIP) standards for traffic control devices

Fiber optic and wireless communication networks used in traffic management systems

Configuration and troubleshooting of networked traffic signal controllers, including adaptive and coordinated signal timing systems.

Security best practices for transportation and critical infrastructure networks.

Network resiliency strategies for real-time transportation data transmission.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Extensive background in technical team management and development

Strong background in Network Operations

Knowledge and understanding of Dynamic Routing Protocols (IP, OSPF, and BGP)

Knowledge and understanding of intelligent Traffic Systems

Experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal and collaboration skills
