Role: Business Analyst

Location: Hybrid, Richmond VA

Duration:12+ Month

Position Summary:

• The State Corporation Commission (SCC) is seeking a skilled Business Systems Analyst to support the development of a new internal application that will replace the current system used by the Division of Securities and Retail Franchising. The selected candidate will be responsible for eliciting, analyzing, documenting, and validating business and system requirements for the development of the SERFIS system a modern, comprehensive work management platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document both functional and technical requirements.
• Translate business needs into detailed user stories and application requirements to support the software development lifecycle.
• Facilitate interviews, workshops, and document analysis to capture and validate user and stakeholder input.
• Create and maintain acceptance criteria to guide quality assurance and project deliverables.
• Develop wireframes, mockups, and process flows to communicate system behavior and design expectations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend enhancements to workflows.
• Act as a liaison between business units and technical teams to ensure mutual understanding and alignment.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for requirements, changes, and related project artifacts.
• Support Agile methodologies and utilize tools such as Team Foundation Server (TFS) for tracking and collaboration.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience eliciting functional and technical requirements via user interviews and documentation analysis.
• Proven expertise in translating business needs into clear and actionable user stories.
• Strong background in defining acceptance criteria and ensuring testing/deliverables meet requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate requirements gathering through various methods, including workshops and use case development.
• Experience designing wireframes and visualizing user interfaces at various fidelity levels.
• Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills in software development contexts.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work both independently and within collaborative team environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and SharePoint.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with Team Foundation Server (TFS) or similar Agile project management tools 5 years preferred.

Compensation

Compensation for roles at Beacon Systems Inc depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, BeaconGov provides reasonable range of compensation for this role.
