The Network Analyst II performs advanced network duties related to the deployment and continued support of mission-critical network infrastructure systems. The Network Analyst II directs activities associated with a local area network or vast area network Internet and intranet systems and other data networks; plans, designs, and integrates data telecommunications networks; designs, installs, and monitors networks; monitors and analyzes existing hardware and software; develops policies and procedures; prepares budget recommendations; and evaluates potential network enhancements. The Network Analyst II provides practical, timely, and complete Network support for the internal administrative systems and the networks that transport 9-1-1 call delivery, which includes designing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining the local and wide area networks, including routers, switches, gateways, and applications servers. This individual is available 24/7 for PSAP support and problem resolution of the 9-1-1 systems and critical District services and may supervise, train, and mentor staff.

- Performs the required work associated with network administration, such as installing and configuring network infrastructure, onboarding network devices into monitoring and security platforms, and implementing maintenance processes that ensure network system stability and performance.
- Develops, implements, and follows all change management practices to ensure work is documented, showing the creation, submission, review, and periodic representation of complex changes in the weekly change management meetings and meets the organizational requirements.
- Develops policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of local or wide area network environments.
- Directs and conducts major studies regarding system usage, makes recommendations for improvements, and determines network system requirements.
- Directs and performs tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of the network resources.
- Assists in developing project plans, including related timelines, for the scheduled refresh and network version upgrades of existing systems.
- Documents network information, including drawings, IP addresses, circuits, network device configurations, inventory, changes, and outage information.
- Analyzes and defines agency disaster recovery responsibilities and procedures.
- Reviews network system plans for completeness and accuracy and plans and schedules network studies and system implementations.
- Available 24/7 by phone, electronically, or in person for 9-1-1 network trouble resolution.
- Reviews network availability and performance reports, determines necessary changes and adjustments and implements remedial measures.
- Monitors, analyzes, and resolves technical problems for established networks.
- Troubleshoots, resolves, and documents network production problems.
- Determines operational, technical, and support requirements for the location, installation, operation, and maintenance of the administrative or 9-1-1 Network and supporting technologies.
- Supports District objectives in the design, planning, installation, maintenance, tuning, and documenting of secure administrative network facilities.
- Monitors and defines the requirements of the overall security of the enterprise network.
- Coordinates with staff and directs external contractors and vendors.
- Performs related work as assigned.
