The World of Warcraft team is looking for a talented Associate Director, World Building with phenomenal communication skills, proven leadership experience, a strong design and art background, loads of experience making open world game spaces and a track record of shipping AAA games. Your quest will be to guide the future of World of Warcraft. You'll help lead the charge for a highly talented team to continuously strive to make the best experience possible.

Experience driving and communicating a clear vision in a highly collaborative environment, managing and mentoring creative designers, and being a true partner to Engineering, Art, Audio, and Production is essential. With each new expansion launch, our team continues to demonstrate the love and passion we have for the World of Warcraft. This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The home studio for this role is Irvine, California.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with team leadership to set the overall vision and direction for World of Warcraft
  • Direct the World Building team in creating epic game experiences
  • Collaborate with creative, design, art, engineering, production, Quality Assurance, and partner teams to execute a compelling game vision
  • Maintain an awareness of the state of the game and community feedback to help influence direction and prioritization
  • Maintain communication with the community via forum posts, press announcements, interviews, and public appearances
  • Establish and maintain a creative environment, resolve personnel challenges, and foster a culture of success
  • Coach and guide creative team members toward achieving their career goals

Minimum Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about WoW
  • 8+ years of World Building experience with multiple shipped AAA titles, ideally multiple titles shipped in a leadership role
  • Proven ability to guide and inspire large development teams and analyze designs at a project level
  • Exhibited ability to coach and mentor employees at all levels of an organization
  • Able to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with all development disciplines
  • Unrelenting self-motivation and initiative

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $124,400.00 - $230,300.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role's range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
