Your impact

We are searching for a Structural Engineering Intern to join our Advanced Facilities - Electronics team in Pittsburgh, PA or Cincinnati, OH working on projects that enable the heart of our clients' business.

In this position you'll have the chance to work on projects including the design of new structures as well as existing structural upgrades. With mentorship and guidance from our Professional Engineers and technical experts, counted on to assist in the performance of structural analysis and design for our projects.

To be successful in this position you will need strong communication and interpersonal skills as you work closely with your Structural Lead, Project Managers, Professional Engineers, and Designers across different disciplines. As part of this team, you will perform increasingly complex calculations and analysis as the structural design is developed, and learn to work with our Designers to get the structural requirements communicated on paper and in the model. Your internship will build on your structural coursework, exposing you to multiple subject areas, and learning how structural design integrates with and impacts other disciplines. You will also develop understanding of principles of analysis and design of vertical and lateral structural systems in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Here's what you'll need

  • Currently seeking a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, with a clear emphasis on Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal), problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Previous relevant internship experience in structural engineering
  • This position is considered project site/hybrid and may require you to work in the local office, at a project site, or from your home (within approximately 50 miles of site)
  • Sponsorship is not available for this position and because our internships are a first step on the road to a full-time position with Jacobs after graduation, those candidates with CPT work authorization are unable to be considered

Ideally, you will have
  • Currently enrolled in a MS degree program in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering
  • Previous experience analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures.
  • Experience with STAAD, Navisworks, and Bluebeam
  • Familiarity with US building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC

Posted Salary Range: Minimum

45,000.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

65,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $45,000.00 to $65,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
