Days Per Week: 5.00
Shift Time: All three shifts are available, but the biggest need is evening and night.

Position Overview: Metropolitan Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join the Chemistry Department. The ideal candidate will bring a strong chemistry background, technical precision, and a commitment to quality laboratory operations. This position plays a key role in providing accurate and timely diagnostic data that supports patient care decisions across multiple clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities
Perform complex chemical, hematological, immunologic, and microscopic tests to support diagnostic and therapeutic decisions.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain specialized laboratory instruments and analytical equipment.
Conduct and interpret quality control procedures to ensure test accuracy and reliability.
Process, analyze, and verify patient specimens in accordance with established laboratory protocols.
Record and report laboratory findings accurately through the hospital s electronic systems.
Recognize and troubleshoot instrument or testing anomalies, escalating issues as needed.
Comply with all safety, infection prevention, and regulatory lab standards.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other lab personnel to assist with result interpretation and workflow coordination.
Support departmental efficiency by participating in cross-training, continuous improvement initiatives, and equipment validation tasks.

Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Bachelor s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
Licensure: Valid Clinical Laboratory Technologist license issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED 092) with Primary Source Verification.
Experience: Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory technologist experience, preferably in a hospital chemistry setting.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.

Skills and Competencies
Proficiency in clinical chemistry instrumentation and methodology.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for interpreting lab data.
Thorough understanding of laboratory quality control, calibration, and compliance requirements.
Ability to work independently on assigned shifts, performing under time-sensitive conditions.
Effective communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
Computer proficiency and familiarity with hospital and laboratory information systems.
