Join Ford Motor Company's electrification journey as a Battery Manufacturing Engineer within the Battery Manufacturing Engineering (BME) organization. Ford is investing over 50-Billion to build state-of-the art manufacturing facilities in US and Eu to manufacture an exciting portfolio of EV vehicles. State of the art technologies and processes for Battery cell, arrays and packs form a core of our competitive leadership strategy. Working with strong team of battery cell technology partners we are building brand-new mega manufacturing facilities and will leverage Ford's 100+years of automobile manufacturing expertise and will be among the largest cell manufacturing campuses in U.S. Like the iconic Rouge complex in Michigan did a century earlier. Ford has selected to partner with global partners for their Battery expertise, these facilities under construction now and others in time will usher in a new era for American manufacturing

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in driving Ford's commitment to electric vehicle innovation and sustainability, directly supporting the three new state-of-the-art plants in Kentucky and Tennessee. These cutting-edge facilities, in collaboration with the Blue Oval SK (BOSK) Joint Venture Battery Cell Plants, will revolutionize battery manufacturing and power the next generation of Ford electric vehicles. As a key member of our team, you will oversee the manufacturing commissioning process, ensuring the highest level of quality and efficiency as we shape the future of automotive electrification.

This position will directly support the Blue Oval SK (BOSK) Joint Venture Battery Cell Plants.

What you'll do...

New Equipment Installation:
  • Manage program timelines for assigned area and implement recovery actions.
  • Oversee the setup and installation of equipment used in battery cell production, module assembly, and factory automation.
  • Ensure seamless operation of integrated systems, including material handling and automated assembly lines.
  • Optimize installation processes to enhance efficiency and production capacity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues in collaboration with OEMs, Safety, Facility, Controls, and Process teams.
  • Create Field Action Requests (FAR) and see them through to implementation.
  • Work closely with skilled tradespeople, OEM representatives, and JV partners to ensure correct equipment installation and functionality.
  • Document installation processes and operational procedures to support maintenance staff.
  • Implement quality control measures during setup to ensure that production meets required standards and specifications.

Process Improvement and Collaboration:
  • Implement standardized engineered solutions for manufacturing equipment, prioritizing ergonomics, safety, productivity, and process conformity.
  • Drive investment efficiency process with Product Development (PD) and Joint Venture (JV) Partner.
  • Incorporate continuous improvements using ME Continuous Improvement/Lessons Learned, Deviation, and Decision Record Processes.
  • Participate in peer reviews, sharing and cascading lessons learned.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize production processes and improve product quality.
  • Monitor and analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with Ford safety regulations and industry standards for battery manufacturing.
  • Travel to domestic and international manufacturing facilities to collaborate with team members, oversee vendor runoff, and in-plant runoff. (Approx. 10% to 15% of time)
  • Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and JV partner to ensure project success and timely delivery of products.


You'll have...
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience installing large scale manufacturing processes
  • Experience in voice of customer and relating customer need into potential solutions.
  • Proactive and adaptable mindset, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving industry, embracing new technologies and processes.
  • Strong attention to detail in fast-paced manufacturing

Even better, you may have...
  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in battery manufacturing installation with specific experience in electrode, cell assembly, factory automation or formation, aging and test equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills related to installation
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for battery manufacturing
