Our client, a regulated financial institution, is building an in-house digital banking platform and is seeking their first dedicated Platform Engineer to lead DevOps practices from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to shape infrastructure, automation, and CI/CD strategies while collaborating directly with engineering, product, and compliance teams.
You'll be instrumental in transitioning from externally hosted environments to Azure, designing secure and scalable infrastructure, and driving the buildout of automated pipelines and proof-of-concepts to support ongoing digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
  • Partner with engineering and leadership to define and drive DevOps best practices.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform or similar IaC tools.
  • Assist in the migration of applications and services to Azure, addressing legacy technical debt.
  • Support containerization efforts, with a future focus on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Collaborate with application development teams to integrate DevSecOps principles and testing frameworks into delivery pipelines.
  • Ensure designs meet security and compliance standards (NIST CSF, CRI, OWASP SAMM).
  • Help build internal documentation using tools like Confluence and Jira.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • 7+ years in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or DevSecOps roles.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure and AWS in hybrid or migration environments.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipeline design, particularly with GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
  • Expertise with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
  • Familiarity with containerization concepts and interest in implementing AKS.
  • Ability to contribute to security practices and work within regulated environments (e.g., NIST 800-53, OWASP SAMM).
  • Proficient in at least one scripting or development language (e.g., Python, Java).
  • Strong communication skills with experience collaborating across engineering, product, and security.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience standing up a DevOps practice or being the first DevOps hire in an organization.
  • Exposure to regulatory frameworks such as NIST CSF, CRI Profile, or FFIEC.
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks and DevSecOps pipelines.
What to Expect in the First 90 Days:
  • Partner with leadership to define DevOps strategy and roadmap.
  • Build initial CI/CD pipelines and proof-of-concept environments.
  • Begin laying the groundwork for AKS and automated infrastructure in Azure.
  • Collaborate with developers to implement testing processes.
