Job Title: Telecom Solutions Architect Carrier Integration & Voice Infrastructure
Location: Remote
Contract to hire
Go to customer meetings, customer-facing. Some occasional travel.
Seeking a Telecom Solutions Architect to own the end-to-end design, implementation, and evolution of our voice and carrier connectivity infrastructure. This is a part-time, long-term role ideal for a senior telecom expert who has successfully led TDM and IP voice projects and TDM to voice conversions, built resilient voice architectures, and worked directly with Tier-1 carriers like AT&T, Verizon, and Lumen.
In this role, you ll guide the technical strategy for all aspects of our inbound and outbound voice traffic, oversee SIP trunking, number provisioning, BYOC integrations, and ensure scalable, compliant voice service delivery across our platform within the scope of specific customer SLAs. You ll work with customer success, sales and finance to answer questions, recommend architecture and assist with billing reconciliations. At, times you will be asked to participate and present network concepts or solution ideas in end-customer meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the voice architecture for our telecom platform including SIP trunking, TDM/IP routing, eSBC deployments, and traffic flows.
Lead the implementation of inbound TFN/DID routing, LATA trunking management, and ongoing carrier integrations with Voxtelesys, 46, Labs, Twilio, and major U.S. telecom providers.
Manage and optimize connectivity with AT&T, Verizon, and Lumen (peer circuits, MPLS, DIA, BGP routing).
Perform lite traffic engineering to ensure proper sizing and scale of network elements.
Architect, validate, and maintain voice call flows (SIP REFER, bridging, RTP, fallback routing).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Product, Support, Management) to ensure operational excellence and system reliability.
Develop and maintain porting workflows, routing templates, and test protocols for Toll-Free and Direct Inward Dial services.
Troubleshot call path issues using SIP tracing, media diagnostics, and quality reporting.
Monitor voice infrastructure health and performance across eSBCs, cloud providers, and carrier links.
Maintain technical documentation and act as a subject matter expert for ongoing evolution and projects.
Work with security and info-sec to maintain resilience and security in our networks.
Requirements:
10+ years of experience in telecom architecture, VoIP/SIP engineering, and carrier-grade infrastructure.
Strong experience with both TDM systems (ISDN PRI, SS7, DS3/OC12 and PBX connectivity) and modern IP voice technologies (SIP, RTP, REFER, Softwitch, BYOC).
Hands-on work with carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, and Lumen, including:
Circuit provisioning and testing
Regulatory and compliance processes (RespOrg, SOMOS, LOAs)
Voice QoS, redundancy, and routing strategies
Deep familiarity with eSBCs (e.g., Ribbon, Oracle etc.) and media gateways for TDM/IP interworking.
Ability to manage multiple voice trunks and scale architectures to support thousands of ports concurrently.
Skilled in SIP analysis, diagnostic tools, and real-time monitoring (e.g., ELK stack or similar).
Clear, proactive communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience integrating with cloud CPaaS platforms or UCaaS and contact center providers (Twilio BYOC, Plivo, Five9, Genesis, Avaya, Talkdesk, Amazon etc.)
Background in mission-critical environments such as utilities, public safety, or large-scale contact centers.
Knowledge of E911 compliance, USF/tax requirements, and traditional and IP based carrier regulations
