Description

The Information Security Specialist is responsible for documenting Tyler's IT Security policies as it pertains to security industry standards, as well as assisting Tyler's Senior Information Security team members with Assessment and Accreditations for government applications. Information Security Specialist must have knowledge of NIST Special Publications, GovRamp (formerly StateRAMP), and CIS/STIG benchmarks. Information Security Specialists will work in a fast paced, highly flexible team and client environment. Must have the ability to effectively communicate with clients and staff both in writing and orally.

Must be able to obtain a U.S. government security clearance, preliminary background checks will be performed prior to offer level.
Responsibilities
  • Represents Tyler in the most positive manner with prospective, former, and current clients, suppliers, and the community we serve.
  • Interacts effectively with a diverse group of staff, clients, and other customers of our services, learns, and uses operating practices of the department and Tyler Federal.
  • Handles confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Upholds the Guiding Principles outlined in the Employee Manual.
  • Develops information security documents based on guidance from Information Security Management.
  • Review and update security policies and procedures on a regular basis
  • Perform regular monitoring and uploads as it relates to GovRamp (formerly StateRAMP).
  • Perform weekly information Security team task review.
  • Monitor team email, perform initial contact with email sender, and enter tickets and/or report request status to Information Security team leads.
Qualifications
  • Strong technical writing skills; ability to create documentation will minimal direction
  • Ability to balance and prioritize concurrent initiatives.
  • Ability to review technical documentation.
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships/partnerships with the information security and infrastructure support teams throughout the Information Technology organization, as well as business units and customers.
  • Strong work ethic with good use of discretion and judgment.
  • Strong communication skills

Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with federal regulations related to information security (FISMA, Computer security Act, etc.)
  • Experience working with NIST Special Publications and A & A process methodology required. Experience with GovRamp (formerly StateRAMP) preferred.
  • Understanding of security related technologies or work experience with networking protocols
  • Versatile skill set to support other teams within IT.

Requirements
  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. government security clearance. (candidates currently in possession of a security clearance preferred, ability to obtain a security is a mandatory requirement)
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education, work experience, and military experience
  • 3 or more years of experience in network, hosting, data and/or application security in multiple operating system environment
