Job Title IT Generalist

Job Description
You will serve as the primary IT contact, ensuring smooth operations, managing end-user support, and resolving technical issues. In addition to supporting your assigned division(s), you
will provide remote assistance to other divisions as needed, ensuring consistent IT operations across the organization.
As the go-to person for employees and other end-users, you will be critical in delivering reliable IT support. The ideal candidate should possess a solid foundation in technical knowledge, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills to address a wide range of IT needs effectively.
Primary Location:
Your primary responsibilities are focused on supporting divisions in the greater Chicago, IL region. While the role offers a hybrid work arrangement with remote work on designated days, you are expected to make yourself available to be on-site promptly in the event of IT issues that necessitate immediate support to address business-impacting situations.
Responsibilities Include:
- Serve as the primary IT contact, providing exceptional customer service to end-users.
- Manage, prioritize, and resolve IT requests, incidents, and problems using IT service management tools.
- Monitor and maintain on-premises and cloud-based applications, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity.
- Perform regular system audits, backups, and updates to ensure the stability and security of the IT infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies, upgrades, and system enhancements.
- Provide technical guidance and training to end users, promoting best practices.
- Install, upgrade, and replace hardware for servers, networks, and end-user devices.
- Maintain accurate inventory of IT assets, hardware, and software licenses for assigned divisions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend solutions to optimize IT service delivery.
- Implement IT standards and procedures set by Corporate IT and local leadership.
- Provide guidance and direction to team members to pursue service excellence.
- Identify automation to make IT processes repeatable, scalable, and secure.
- Collaborate with and help IT team members and departments across divisions as needed.
- Partner with Corporate IT to support infrastructure and solutions deployed globally.
Requirements:
- 2-5 years of IT systems support or similar role.
- Relevant certifications such as ITIL Foundation, CompTIA A+, or current Microsoft certifications (e.g., Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator Associate), or equivalent industry certifications.
- Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) principles, processes, and tools.
- Strong knowledge of on-premises and cloud-based applications, network infrastructure, and end-user computing.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
- Can work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve technical issues effectively
- Exceptional communication and people skills to interact with end users and stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to see patterns in issues and develop long-term solutions.
- Local or regional travel may be required to support assigned divisional sites or other nearby locations.
