Senior IT Technical Writer - SOX IT ComplianceRemote (EST hours, some flexibility for global communication)

Pay Range: $58.00 - $70.50/hr
Overview:
Our client, a private equity-backed organization preparing for a PwC audit in 2026, is seeking a Senior IT Technical Writer experienced in developing IT policies, standards, and process documentation to support SOX IT compliance. This role will assess current documentation, identify gaps, and work with control owners to produce audit-ready materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct documentation reviews to identify gaps against SOX IT requirements.
- Collaborate with multiple control and system owners to complete and standardize IT policies and procedures.
- Write, edit, and format documentation (policies, standards, process flows) in Word and Visio, publishing final versions to PDF.
- Ensure documentation aligns with PwC audit expectations and supports ITtesting.
- Maintain centralized records and support transition to a GRC platform (experience is a major plus).
- Provide periodic updates on documentation progress and readiness.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of IT technical writing experience focused on compliance, audit, or security.
- Strong policy and standards writing background with past audit exposure (Big 4 or equivalent preferred).
- Solid understanding of SOX ITGCs (access, change management, operations).
- Ability to work independently, proactively finding missing documentation and driving completion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Visio, and PDF formatting.
BonSoft Skills:
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional, global teams.
- Familiarity with GRC tools (e.g., Drata) is a plus.
