Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Educational Facilities Planner to be based in Coral Gables, FL

Job responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:

  • Conducts prost occupancy evaluations for completed capital projects.

  • Provides technical assistance and support to design professional project managers, educational planners, advance planners, and educational specialists, resolving questions and concerns related to M-DCPS land use and construction requirements.

  • Develops and maintains M-DCPS prototype educational specifications and coordinates with Design Criteria, Master Specifications, Facilities list, and Master FF&E lists.

  • Meets with M-DCPS Educational Specialists and other M-DCPS departments to determine specific needs of each educational space, which shall be reflected in the prototype educational specifications.

  • Experienced professional with a specialized area of expertise.

  • Experience in the Advance Planning Department to develop pre-programming, programming (Scoping) Documents, feasibility studies and Castaldi Analysis reports for Capital Projects.

  • Coordinating with Capital Construction, Document Control, School Operations, the Attendance Boundary Committee, Region staff administrators, and school site administrators as needed to determine needs for, and status of, facilities projects.

  • May manage small or medium-sized projects, or have full technical control of project.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS plus 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Knowledge in evaluating and planning space for educational adequacy.

  • Knowledge and experience in reading and interpreting architectural drawings and specifications.

  • Knowledge of the roles and functions of educators, planner, and architects in educational programming, design and construction process.

  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local codes and regulations governing planning, design, and construction of public-school facilities.

  • Demonstrated proficiency using CADD programs such as AutoCAD and MS Office products.

  • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background checks

  • Must pass the Miami Dade County fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check.

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or related field + 5 years experience.

  • Familiarity with State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF).

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $43.00/hour - $46.20/hour.
