Job Title: Infrastructure Consultant

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Infrastructure Consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing our on-prem VMware infrastructure and providing expert consultation on adopting alternative solutions such as Platform9 OpenStack, Proxmox, and other virtualization technologies. This role requires the candidate to be based in the United States and to have an active security clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and review the current on-prem VMware infrastructure, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
- Provide strategic advice and consultation on alternative virtualization solutions including Platform9 OpenStack, Proxmox, and other relevant technologies.
- Design and implement migration strategies from VMware to alternative platforms, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new solutions with existing systems and applications.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation of configurations, processes, and migration plans.
- Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtualization infrastructure.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in infrastructure consulting, with a focus on VMware and alternative virtualization solutions.
- Strong knowledge of VMware products and components.
- Experience with alternative virtualization technologies such as Platform9 OpenStack, Proxmox, KVM, and others.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation and infrastructure management.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be based in the United States.
- Active security clearance is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in VMware (VCP / VCAP-DCV), OpenStack (COA, OCP), or other relevant technologies.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).
- Experience with hardware migration and lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of network and storage fabrics (FC/iSCSI/NVMe, vSwitch, SR-IOV, NIC teaming).
