The Work
Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems is seeking a full-time Systems Engineer (Modeling) for the Submarine C5I SE&I program. As a member of our product team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of modeling tools and features in an Agile DevSecOps program environment, supporting a large system of systems program and advancing a digital thread solution. You will work closely with experienced engineers and modelers to learn and develop skills in editing and updating an enterprise reference architecture model, designing new model structures, and developing software plugins to add model tool functionality. You will also have the opportunity to engage with various program stakeholders from subsystem programs. The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of SysML and other modeling languages/tools, object-oriented programming, strong attention to detail, and good communication skills. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Who You Are
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in weekly team meetings to discuss development progress, providing clear information on feature status, reporting concerns and blockers, and relaying pertinent information on subsystems and digital-thread growth opportunities
Develop skills in SysML and other modeling languages, tools, and interfaces, with guidance from experienced engineers and modelers
Collaborate with multi-discipline, cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for tool and feature commonization across the model federation
Assist in promoting the use of modeling environments and tools to subsystem programs
Contribute to the development of model structures and architectures
Support the development of plugins for modeling tools
Stay current with industry developments and advancements in SysML language, tools, and interfaces, and explore their applications in digital transformation technologies

Basic Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
Associate's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or a commensurate amount of education, experience, and/or certifications
2+ years of experience in an engineering or technical role, with a demonstrated ability to apply technical skills and knowledge to supporting engineering projects and activities
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent organizational and time management abilities
Detail-oriented with a strong ability to accurately maintain and update documentation
Familiarity with model-based languages such as SysML or UML and willingness to learn and apply them in a professional setting
Basic knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) languages such as Java, Python, or C++ with a willingness to learn and apply these skills in a professional setting

Desired skills

Familiarity with Linux, Git, MATLAB
Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
Familiarity with Jira or Redmine project management tools
Knowledgeable in execution semantics for SysML, UML, or both
OCSMP SysML certification, SysML training course, or coursework involving SysML
Experience using modeling tools such as MagicDraw, Cameo, Rhapsody, PlantUML, etc.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $58,300 - $102,810. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
