Job Details

Job Title: PCB/Flexible Circuits Physical Design Technician

Duration: 12+ Months (Possibility of Extension)

Location: Rochester, MN (Onsite) / REMOTE

Background: Our client has a need for an experienced and creative physical design technician. This technician will be a key member of the PCB/Flexible Circuit development team, which is responsible for the design, development, and test of critical hardware for quantum systems. The selected candidate will work directly with researchers and hardware developers to determine the best solutions for technical challenges.

Job Duties:

  • Job Duty 1 Create, modify, and optimize designs of high-density PCBs and flex circuits using industry-standard layout tools (Cadence- Allegro)
  • Job Duty 2 Collaborate with logic design, signal integrity, and researchers to deliver complete custom PCB/flex circuit designs
  • Job Duty 3 Perform design rule checks, implement feedback from design verification, and lead physical design reviews to ensure design rules compliance and support release schedules
  • Job Duty 4 Generate and maintain detailed revision documentation of design files, including Gerber files

Basic Skills, clearances and other elements required, in order of importance, and number of years experience, where applicable, in each skill:

    • Associate of Applied Sciences
    • Experience with CAD tools (ex. Cadence- Allegro) for PCB/flex circuit design- 5 years
    • Programming experience (Python, SKILL, etc.)- 5 years
    • Other: Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Expert with Slack, Outlook, Microsoft Teams.

Other Skills Desired, Years in each skill, where applicable:

  • Experience with Cadence Allegro Tools for PCB/flex circuit design
  • Strong background in electrical principles, layout techniques, and PCB/flex circuit fabrication processes
  • Foundational understanding of multi-disciplinary engineering skills (Mechanical, Thermal, etc.)
  • Experience with Git, GitHub, or other software repository versioning tools
  • Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering
