Position Summary:
Plans and designs manufacturing processes, tooling and test equipment in industrial plant. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Mentors and helps grow Level I and level II manufacturing engineers.
- Leads projects with multiple engineers assigned to the project.
- Using SolidWorks, Designs and qualifies fixtures and tooling for assembly and manufacturing.
- Designs, specifies and qualifies test equipment.
- Responsible for leading the make or buy decision-making process on new products.
- Recognizes initiates and creates statement of work for the use of outside vendors and consultants. Internally manages projects with outside vendors and consultants.
- Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Maintains and manages layout at the facility level.
- Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design to ensure efficient production methods.
- Project leader on NPD product integration into the manufacturing facility and represents operations at stage gate meetings on medium to large and complex projects.
- Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
Requirements
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or related field and a minimum of five years of experience; an advanced degree preferred. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Certification in lean/six sigma preferred.
