Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated **Senior Project Manager** to join our dynamic team in Pleasanton, CA. This individual will lead and manage projects in our distribution center operations, ensuring smooth execution, on-time delivery, and optimization of our logistics and material handling systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in distribution center operations, including the procurement and implementation of material handling systems and devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership - Lead and oversee large-scale distribution center projects from concept through implementation, ensuring all milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Material Handling Systems - Plan and execute improvements and upgrades to material handling systems, including conveyor systems, automated storage/retrieval systems (AS/RS), and sorting equipment.
  • Device Procurement & Implementation - Manage the procurement process for devices and equipment required in distribution operations. Oversee supplier relationships, contract negotiations, and ensure timely delivery and integration of new technology.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration - Work closely with operations, engineering, IT, and other teams to ensure smooth implementation and integration of project elements.
  • Risk Management - Proactively identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize any impact on project timelines, quality, and costs.
  • Budget Management - Manage project budgets, track project spending, and ensure cost-effective solutions are implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Vendor Management - Work closely with external vendors and suppliers to manage project timelines, ensure product quality, and resolve any potential issues.
  • Reporting & Documentation - Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, timelines, resource allocation, and status reports.

Qualifications:

  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or a related field. PMP or equivalent project management certification is preferred.
  • Experience - Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years specifically in distribution center operations.
  • Material Handling Expertise - Strong experience with material handling systems such as conveyor systems, sortation equipment, and automated systems (AS/RS).
  • Device Procurement - Proven experience managing device procurement for operational needs within distribution centers (e.g., scanners, handheld devices, and printers).
  • Technical Proficiency - Strong understanding of distribution center operations, warehouse management systems (WMS), and related technologies.
  • Communication Skills - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and external partners.
  • Problem-solving - Proven ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Prior experience in a large-scale distribution center or fulfillment center.
  • Advanced knowledge of warehouse management software (WMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
