Job Description: Lost Time Adjuster (Contingent) Remote

Position Overview:
Insurance is seeking a remote Lost Time Adjuster to join the team on a contingent basis to cover a leave of absence. This position is responsible for managing indemnity claims, including the investigation, evaluation, and determination of compensability for work-related injury and disease claims. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality service in a cost-effective manner and collaborate across departments to support positive claim outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and evaluate medical and indemnity benefits to drive claims to a cost-effective resolution.
  • Determine claim outcomes using company guidelines, regulations, and sound judgment.
  • Conduct interviews and take recorded statements to gather facts and determine compensability.
  • Set and adjust case reserves proactively based on the evolving circumstances of the claim.
  • Pursue subrogation opportunities and manage litigation with panel counsel.
  • Collaborate with claim directors, RTW specialists, nurse case managers, and legal teams.
  • Work directly with injured workers, employers, and providers to support quality care and return-to-work plans.
  • Review reports from medical, legal, and vocational experts to adjust claim strategy as needed.
  • Present and discuss claim findings in team meetings, internal reviews, and policyholder discussions.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of lost time workers' compensation adjusting experience
  • Experience handling claims in NC and/or SC is preferred
  • Strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
