Sargent & Lundy's Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering and consulting to the management and operating contractors for the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). What does this mean? - Support Structural design engineering efforts on multi-disciplined project design team
- Apply structural engineering expertise to the design and qualification of structures, systems, and components
- Prepare engineering calculations/analyses, design drawings, specifications, and engineering reports
- Maintain assigned tasks within schedule and budget to fit the needs of the projects
- Attend project meetings and perform field walkdowns; communicate clearly in meetings with clients and summarize meeting notes in a clear and timely manner
- Mentor new engineers
Qualifications
Essential skills and experience:
- Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance
- BSCE or BSSE degree or similar from an ABET-accredited program
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in civil and structural engineering
- Experience with producing engineering designs for foundations, structures, and support structures
Valued, but not required skills and experience:
- Multiple years of experience in a nuclear environment (DOE preferred, commercial or Navy), highly desirable
- Structural Engineering (SE) Licensure
- Field Engineering and Construction Experience
- Experience with ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC
- Proficiency in finite element analysis software such as ANSYS or SAP2000 or equivalent
