THE DEPARTMENT
The following teams make up the Technology department: Business Analysis and Quality Assurance, Applications Development, Applications Support, and Engineering. The group identifies and develops technological strategies that support business goals and objectives to ensure internal and external partners are provided with stable systems. These include: all desktop, network, phone and email systems, applications (reservations and operations systems), websites, and Internet access.
THE ROLE
Microsoft 365 System Engineers play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of Microsoft 365 solutions within our organization. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of Microsoft 365 services, optimizing their performance, and enhancing their security posture. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to align Microsoft 365 solutions with business objectives.
As a Microsoft 365 System Engineer, you will be at the forefront of leveraging Microsoft's cloud-based productivity suite to empower our organization with modern collaboration tools and secure communication channels. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving innovation, enhancing productivity, and ensuring the reliability of our IT infrastructure.
THE POSITION
Microsoft 365 System Engineer is responsible for the following results:
Design and Implementation: Design, configure, and implement Microsoft 365 solutions tailored to meet organizational requirements. This includes but is not limited to Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and other associated services.
System Administration: Perform day-to-day administration tasks ensuring the state and security of the Microsoft 365 environment.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor the health and performance of Microsoft 365 services, proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure high availability and reliability. Troubleshoot and resolve Level 2 technical incidents related to Microsoft 365 services.
Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices and compliance policies within the Microsoft 365 environment to protect data, prevent unauthorized access, and ensure regulatory compliance. Conduct regular security assessments and audits.
Collaboration and Integration: Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate Microsoft 365 solutions with existing infrastructure and third-party applications. Provide technical guidance and support for integration projects.
Documentation and Training: Maintain comprehensive documentation of Microsoft 365 configurations, procedures, and best practices. Provide training and knowledge transfer to IT staff and end-users as needed.
Capacity Planning and Performance Optimization: Monitor resource utilization and performance trends, conduct capacity planning exercises, and implement optimization strategies to ensure efficient utilization of Microsoft 365 resources.
EDUCATION
The preferred candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree and/or four years' related experience or four to eight years related experience with the technology required of the open position.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
The preferred candidate has noteworthy experience in the following areas:
Experience as a system engineer or administrator with a focus on Microsoft 365
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and associated technologies
Strong understanding of identity and access management concepts, including Azure Active Directory
Experience with security and compliance features of Microsoft 365, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and administration tasks
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
